The Lake District is only an hour’s drive from Silverdale, making it very easy to plan a number of great days out to enjoy during your stay with us. Even the drive itself can be rather enjoyable, taking you through some of the most picturesque landscape in the country.
Whether you’re a hiker, a shopper, or you love a good potter around a museum, there is plenty to do in the Lakes. No matter how much of a big day you have planned, you can be back at your cottage ready to relax for the evening within the hour, so start filling your itinerary now!
Enjoy the Lake District’s best attractions
No matter what your idea of the perfect day out is, the Lake District has something to offer for everybody. Whether you’re visiting with friends, family, or as a couple, you won’t run out of wonderful things to fill your days with.
If you have kids in tow, there are lots of child-friendly activities to be enjoyed, including the World of Beatrix Potter in the popular lakeside village of Bowness.

If taking to the water is more your style, Windermere Lake Cruises are a great way to enjoy the area of Windermere at a leisurely pace, or you could even hire a self-drive or rowing boat if you want an experience that is a little bit more intimate.
There are many wonderful museums to visit in the Lakes, including Dove Cottage, the official Wordsworth museum and former home of the man himself.
Car lovers will certainly enjoy a trip to the Lakeland Motor Museum, which houses fantastic historic cars and racing cars, as well as recreations of period shops, a 1920s garage, and a 1950s cafe.

If you stay with us in any of our cottages, you will get free access to our fantastic facilities at our nearby holiday park Silverdale Holiday Park, which features an indoor swimming pool, children’s play areas, and a bowling alley (although extra charges apply for the bowling alley).
This means that if you fancy a day off from exploring, or if the weather isn’t the best, there is still plenty for you to do without having to stray too far from your front door.
When hunger strikes, why not head to The Royal, our fantastic bar and restaurant in the heart of Silverdale village, where we serve delicious locally sourced food and drink.
